Alan J. Shienbaum, DO is the President, Chief Executive Officer, and Managing Partner of Pathology Associates of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the co-owner of Keystone Medical Laboratories.
Dr. Shienbaum is an experienced physician leader, entrepreneur, surgical pathologist, cytopathologist, laboratory director, mentor, and medical educator who has been in practice since 2000.
He earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his residency in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology at Temple University Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Cytopathology at MCP/Hahnemann University Hospital.
Dr. Shienbaum is a past President of the American Osteopathic College of Pathologists, the premier national membership organization for osteopathic physicians specializing in pathology. He is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology.
Dr. Shienbaum serves as a Professor of Pathology at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and a Clinical Professor of Pathology at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He is also a faculty member for the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education. He has mentored numerous medical students in addition to residents and fellows in pathology and gastroenterology.
He has been named a Top Pathologist in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey by multiple publications and has been honored with an Excellence in Teaching Award for this educational endeavors.
Dr. Shienbaum's areas of clinical expertise include oncologic surgical pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, breast pathology, and cytopathology.
Michael A. Yoder, MD is the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Pathology Associates of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the founder, co-owner and Laboratory Director of Keystone Medical Laboratories.
Dr. Yoder is originally from Selinsgrove, PA. He earned his bachelor of science degree in Molecular/Cellular Biology from Penn State University and his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He then went on to complete his residency in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology at Temple University Hospital, followed by fellowships in Cytopathology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Surgical Pathology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Yoder is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology.
Dr. Yoder is an experienced laboratory director, surgical pathologist, and cytopathologist, who joined Pathology Associates of Northeastern Pennsylvania is 2003. In addition to serving as the Laboratory Director of Keystone Medical Laboratories, he also is the Laboratory Director at Commonwealth Health Moses Taylor Hospital and Regional Hospital of Scranton.
He also serves as an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, where he has been a recipient of the Mark Miller Faculty Award in addition to being recognized as the Professor of the Year.
Dr. Yoder's areas of clinical expertise include oncologic surgical pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, laboratory medicine, and cytopathology.
Jeanine M. Chiaffarano, DO comes to us from Jefferson Health - NJ, where she served as the Director of Women's Health and Laboratory Director of Jefferson Health - NJ Washington Township Division. She is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Cytopathology.
Dr. Chiaffarano graduated from the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine and performed her residency in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She then went on to complete fellowships in Cytopathology and Women's Health (which includes breast and gynecologic surgical pathology) at the New York University Langone Medical Center.
Dr. Chiaffarano is the Immediate Past President of the American Osteopathic College of Pathologists (AOCP). She has been named Top Doc and Top Female Doc in South Jersey multiple times and brings very valuable experience, skills and insight to our practice.
Ryan M. Cristelli, DO is an Associate Pathologist and the Director of Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Pathology at Pathology Associates of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Dr. Cristelli serves as the Laboratory Director of Endless Mountains Hospital and Barnes-Kasson Hospital and the Associate Laboratory Director of Commonwealth Health Moses Taylor Hospital and Regional Hospital of Scranton.
He earned his medical degree from the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his residency in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology at Rutgers - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, followed by a fellowship in Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Pathology at Rutgers - New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ.
Dr. Cristelli has co-authored a chapter in a text book on medical liver pathology and he has published numerous articles on gastrointestinal pathology in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Cristelli is board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. His areas of clinical expertise include oncologic surgical pathology and gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pathology.
